Decided

DISMISSED

Holding

The appeal is dismissed; the appellant is not entitled to anticipatory bail.

Summary

The appellant, Shaligram Singh, was charged under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Arms Act and the SC/ST Act for allegedly assaulting police personnel and using caste‑based abusive language during the discharge of their duties. The trial court rejected his application for anticipatory bail. On appeal, the High Court examined the seriousness of the allegations, the nature of the alleged assault, and the appellant’s specific role in the incident. Considering the gravity of the offences and the caste‑based nature of the abuse, the Court found no merit in granting anticipatory bail. Consequently, the appeal was dismissed and the order denying anticipatory bail was upheld.
