The court may modify the time limit for surrender in an anticipatory bail order, and it granted an additional four‑week extension.

Summary

The petitioner was granted anticipatory bail on 22 September 2025 with a directive to surrender within eight weeks and submit bail bonds. He was unable to comply with the surrender deadline due to unavoidable reasons and filed a modification application seeking an additional four weeks. The court examined whether the time limit could be extended without prejudice to the bail conditions. It held that the court has the authority to modify procedural directions in an anticipatory bail order. Consequently, the court extended the surrender period by four weeks and allowed the petition.
