The application for regular bail was dismissed.
Summary
Vivek Kumar Singh applied for regular bail in a case (Kuchaikote P.S. Case No. 92 of 2025) where he is accused under several sections of the B.N.S. for allegedly looting Rs. 1,00,000 in cash from an informant and assaulting him with a knife. The petitioner claimed innocence, stating he has only one prior criminal antecedent and has been in custody since 9 December 2025. The State opposed bail, asserting that the petitioner did commit the loot and the knife assault. The court examined the seriousness of the allegations and the petitioner’s criminal record. Considering the nature of the offences, the court dismissed the bail application.
Issues considered
- Whether the petitioner is entitled to regular bail despite the serious nature of the offences and his prior criminal antecedent
- Whether the evidence presented by the State justifies denial of bail
