The Court held that the surrender time may be extended by four weeks subject to payment of Rs. 1,000 to the Legal Services Committee.

Summary

The petitioner, Praveen Kumar, had earlier been granted anticipatory bail by the Patna High Court, with a condition to surrender within a stipulated time and furnish bail bond and sureties. He filed a modification petition stating that he could not surrender within the original time limit. The Court considered the petition and the reasons provided in paragraphs 4 and 5 of the application. It decided to extend the surrender period by an additional four weeks, imposing a condition that the petitioner pay Rs. 1,000 to the Legal Services Committee, the proceeds of which would be used for purchasing flower pots. The modification order was pronounced on 16‑01‑2026, thereby allowing the petitioner more time to comply with the bail conditions.
