The Court modified the order to reflect the correct number of antecedents and extended the surrender period by four weeks.

Summary

The petitioners, Ranjeeta Devi and Amit Kumar, filed a modification application to correct the record of their criminal antecedents in the order dated 01‑07‑2025 and to seek an extension of the time granted for surrender. The original order mistakenly stated fewer pending cases against them. The petitioners submitted a supplementary affidavit showing additional cases, prompting a request to amend the antecedent count. The Court accepted the correction, revising the order to reflect six cases for appellant 1 (with three on bail) and five cases for appellant 2 (with two on bail). Additionally, the Court extended the surrender deadline by four weeks from the date of the hearing. The modification application was disposed of, and the corrected order stands.

Issues considered

  • Whether the order dated 01‑07‑2025 can be modified to correct the stated number of criminal antecedents of the appellants.
