Holding
A pure typographical error in the date of an order may be corrected, and the order shall be treated as having been passed on the correct date.
Summary
The petitioner, Sonu Kumar Gupta, challenged a typographical error in Order No.3 dated 20‑04‑2026, where the order incorrectly recorded the date as 18‑04‑2026. The High Court examined whether it could correct such a clerical mistake without a fresh hearing. Relying on its inherent jurisdiction to amend orders for pure typographical errors, the Court held that the date should be rectified to reflect the true date of the order. Consequently, the Court directed that Order No.3 be treated as having been passed on 20‑04‑2026 and that the corrected order be uploaded on the Court’s website. The rest of the order remained unchanged.
