A typographical error in the date of a court order may be corrected to reflect the true date of issuance.
Summary
The petitioner Alok Mishra filed a petition challenging a typographical error in Order No.3 dated 20-04-2026, where the order incorrectly recorded the date as 18-04-2026. The High Court examined whether such a clerical mistake could be rectified without affecting the substantive content of the order. The Court held that a mere typographical error concerning the date does not alter the operative provisions and may be corrected to reflect the true date of issuance. Consequently, the Court directed that the date of Order No.3 be treated as 20-04-2026 and that the correction be reflected on the Court's website. The remainder of the order was left unchanged, and the correction was incorporated accordingly.
