Patna High Court

Sanni Kumar @ Sonu KumarversusThe State of Bihar

Decided
Disposal
DISMISSED

Holding

The court held that regular bail could not be granted to the petitioner due to the gravity of the offences and his nine criminal antecedents.

Summary

The petitioner, Sanni Kumar, was arrested in connection with a case registered under Sections 307 and 394 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 27 of the Arms Act, alleging involvement in a loot and shooting incident. He applied for regular bail, claiming innocence despite being named in the FIR and having been in custody since 21 March 2025. The petitioner’s counsel highlighted his claim of non‑participation, while the opposing counsel emphasized his alleged participation and his nine prior criminal antecedents. The court examined the seriousness of the offences—attempted murder, robbery, and illegal possession of arms—along with the petitioner’s extensive criminal record. Considering the gravity of the charges and the antecedents, the court rejected the bail application. The petition for regular bail was therefore dismissed.
