The court held that bail could not be granted and dismissed the bail application.

Summary

The petitioner, Md. Salman Aziz, was arrested in connection with a kidnapping case (PS No. 720 of 2024) where the victim was released after a ransom was paid. He has been in custody since 15 October 2025 and his name appears in a self‑incriminatory statement of a co‑accused, Pappu Patel. The petitioner filed an application for regular bail under Section 140(2) of the BNS. The court examined the seriousness of the allegation, the nature of the offence, and the presence of the petitioner’s name in the co‑accused’s statement. Considering these factors, the court was not inclined to grant bail and dismissed the application, clarifying that the order is limited to the bail application and does not prejudice the trial.
