Decided

DISMISSED

Holding

The bail application was dismissed; regular bail was not granted.

Summary

Ranveer Paswan was arrested in connection with a murder case (PS Alauli Case No.105 of 2024) under Sections 302, 201 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code. He has been in custody since 10 June 2025 and the co‑accused’s self‑inculpatory statement implicates him in the killing. The petitioner applied for regular bail. The Court examined the seriousness of the offences and the co‑accused’s testimony and concluded that bail could not be granted at this stage. Consequently, the bail application was dismissed, with a direction that the petitioner may seek bail again if the trial is unduly delayed. The Court clarified that its observations are limited to the bail application and do not prejudice the merits of the trial.

Issues considered

  • Whether regular bail should be granted to an accused of murder and related offences under Sections 302, 201 and 34 IPC, considering the co‑accused’s incriminating statement.
