Holding

The court held that, on account of the petitioners' satisfactory reasons, an additional eight‑week period for surrender and furnishing bail bond may be granted, subject to a deposit of Rs 10,000 each.

Summary

The petitioners, five members of the Choudhary family, were directed by the court to surrender and furnish bail bond in a criminal miscellaneous case pending before the Patna High Court. They filed a petition seeking modification of the order dated 09‑05‑2024 to obtain additional time for surrender. The petition argued that they required more time due to reasons set out in the application. The State opposed the request. The Court, after hearing counsel, found the reasons sufficient and granted an extra eight weeks from the date of the order. The Court conditioned the extension on each petitioner depositing Rs 10,000 with the District Legal Services Authority and furnishing the receipt with the bail bond. Accordingly, the earlier order was modified and the modification petition was allowed.
