The court modified the earlier order, granting an eight‑week extension for surrender and requiring a deposit of Rs.5,000 each as a condition for the bail bond.

Summary

The petitioners, three brothers, filed a criminal miscellaneous application seeking modification of an earlier order dated 08.01.2026 that prescribed a period for their surrender and furnishing of bail bond. The court considered their request for additional time and conditions for bail. It granted an extension of eight weeks from the date of the order for the petitioners to surrender and submit bail bonds, subject to each depositing Rs.5,000 with the District Legal Services Authority and producing the receipt. The modification was ordered to replace the earlier directive. Consequently, the petition for modification was allowed.

Issues considered

  • Whether the High Court may extend the period granted for surrender and furnishing of bail bond under the earlier order
