The Court granted bail to the petitioners subject to specified monetary and reporting conditions.
Summary
The petitioners, Piyush Singh and Nikesh Kumar, were arrested in connection with the seizure of approximately 84 litres of illicit liquor under Section 30(a) of the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act. They applied for bail, claiming innocence and having been in custody since 1 February 2026. The State opposed the bail. The High Court considered the facts, the petitioners' willingness to deposit Rs. 25,000 each in a charitable organization, and the submissions of counsel. The Court granted bail on the condition of furnishing a Rs.10,000 bond with two sureties, depositing the charitable amount, and reporting to the respective police stations every Sunday, with default leading to cancellation. The order is limited to the bail application and does not prejudice the merits of the trial.
