Decided
Disposal
DISMISSED

Holding

The court held that bail could not be granted to the petitioner given the seriousness of the allegations and his involvement.

Summary

The petitioner, Ranjit Kumar, was arrested in connection with a robbery in which three persons allegedly looted Rs. 2,43,000 after assaulting an informant. The informant identified the petitioner as the individual who snatched his bag and inflicted a head injury, and the stolen items were recovered from the petitioner. The petitioner applied for bail, citing his custody since 2 October 2025. The court examined the seriousness of the offences under Sections 309(6) and 3(5) of the B.N.S. and Sections 25(1‑B)(a) and 26 of the Arms Act, as well as the petitioner’s alleged involvement. Considering the facts and the gravity of the alleged crimes, the court declined to grant bail. The bail application was therefore rejected, with the court noting that its observations were prima facie and not a determination on the merits of the case.
