DISMISSED

Holding

Anticipatory bail is denied.

Summary

The petitioner, Jaiki Singh, applied for anticipatory bail fearing arrest in a robbery case (P.S. Case No. 265 of 2023) registered under Section 392 of the Indian Penal Code. The prosecution alleged that unknown criminals snatched cash and documents from an informant, and the petitioner’s name appeared based on a self‑inculpatory statement of a co‑accused. The petitioner also has two prior criminal antecedents. The High Court examined whether the seriousness of the offence and the petitioner’s criminal history warranted denial of anticipatory bail. Considering the gravity of the alleged robbery and the petitioner’s past record, the Court declined to grant anticipatory bail. The order was limited to the present application and does not prejudice any future proceedings against the petitioner.

Issues considered

  • Whether anticipatory bail should be granted to the petitioner under the circumstances of the alleged robbery under Section 392 IPC
