Patna High Court

Ram YadavversusThe State of Bihar

Decided
Disposal
BAIL GRANTED

Holding

The court granted regular bail to the petitioner, finding that the circumstances did not justify continued detention.

Summary

Ram Yadav was arrested in connection with a case registered under Section 30(a) of the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act for the alleged recovery of two litres of country-made liquor. The petitioner, who has five prior criminal cases but is on bail in each, had been detained since 1 February 2026. He argued that the investigation was complete, the main witnesses were government officials, and his prior cases did not warrant continued detention. The State opposed the bail on the ground of the petitioner’s criminal antecedents. Considering the facts, the court found no compelling reason to keep the petitioner in custody and ordered his release on regular bail with a bond of Rs. 20,000 and two sureties of the same amount.
