Dhannu SinghversusThe State of Bihar

Decided

REJECTED

Holding

Bail was denied as the court was not convinced that the petitioner warranted release pending trial.

Summary

Dhannu Singh was arrested on 26 March 2024 in connection with a murder case (PS Case No. 121 of 2024) under Sections 302 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code. He applied for bail, claiming a clean antecedent and that the FIR was fabricated. The prosecution opposed the bail, relying on the FIR, the allegation of repeated knife blows, and a post‑mortem report confirming the cause of death. The High Court examined the seriousness of the offence, the material evidence, and the risk of tampering with evidence. Finding the allegations credible and the offence grave, the Court refused to grant bail. Consequently, the petition for bail was dismissed.
