Chunchun SinghversusThe Satate of Bihar

Decided
Disposal
DISMISSED

Holding

Bail was denied as the petitioner’s serious offences and antecedents warranted custody.

Summary

The petitioner, Chunchun Singh, applied for bail in a case registered under Section 302, 120(B)/34 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 27 of the Arms Act, alleging he shot and killed the deceased. He has been in custody since 24 September 2025 and possesses six serious criminal antecedents. The court examined whether the gravity of the murder charge and the petitioner’s prior record warranted the denial of bail. Considering the seriousness of the offence and the antecedents, the judge was not inclined to grant bail. Consequently, the bail application was dismissed, with the court noting that its observations are limited to this bail application and do not prejudice the trial’s merits.
