Patna High Court

Indrajeet Paswan @ Karpuri PaswanversusThe State Of Bihar

Decided
Disposal
BAIL GRANTED

Holding

The court held that bail should be granted subject to a cash bond, sureties and regular police attendance.

Summary

Indrajeet Paswan was arrested in connection with the recovery of 1.44 litres of illicit liquor under Section 30(a) of the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act, 2018. He had been in custody since 3 February 2026 and the State opposed bail, noting that he faces ten other criminal cases. The petitioner contended innocence and sought bail. The court, after evaluating the modest quantity of liquor seized and the petitioner's submissions, ordered his release on bail upon furnishing a cash bond of Rs.10,000 with two sureties of equal amount. Conditions imposed included mandatory attendance at the police station every Sunday and cancellation of bail if he becomes involved in any further case. The order was limited to the bail application and did not prejudice the merits of the trial.
