Patna High Court

Dharmveer Prasad @ Dharamvir PrasadversusThe State of Bihar

Decided
Disposal
BAIL GRANTED

Holding

Bail was granted to the petitioner.

Summary

Dharmveer Prasad was arrested in connection with a case involving alleged shooting and multiple offences under the BNS and the Arms Act. He had been in custody since 21 October 2025. The petitioner claimed innocence, alleging false implication due to a prior threat against him, and argued that no incriminating material had been found during investigation. The court examined the bail application, considering the seriousness of the charges and the lack of substantive evidence presented. It granted bail on a bond of Rs.10,000 with two sureties, while expressly limiting the order to the bail matter and not commenting on the merits of the trial.

Issues considered

  • Whether bail should be granted to the petitioner despite the serious nature of the offences alleged under the BNS and the Arms Act
