Decided
Disposal
BAIL GRANTED

Holding

Bail is granted to the petitioner subject to specified bond, surety, monetary deposit and attendance conditions.

Summary

The petitioner, Bablu Kumar, was arrested in connection with the seizure of 200 litres of illicit liquor and charged under Section 30(a) of the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act, 2016. He applied for bail, claiming innocence and offering to donate Rs. 25,000 to a charitable organization without admitting guilt. The State opposed the bail application. The High Court, after considering the facts and submissions, granted bail on the condition that the petitioner furnish a bail bond of Rs. 10,000 with two sureties of equal amount, deposit Rs. 25,000 in Ramakrishna Math, and attend the police station on the first Sunday of each month. The order is limited to the bail application and does not prejudice the merits of the trial. The court directed that a copy of the order be sent to the Superintendent of Police, Hazaribagh for compliance.
