Decided

BAIL GRANTED

Holding

The court granted bail to the petitioner.

Summary

Raja Vijay Singh was arrested in connection with a case registered under multiple sections of the Bihar National Security Act, 2023 and Section 27 of the Arms Act for allegedly assaulting a victim. The prosecution alleged that Singh, along with others, participated in the assault, with Ajay Kumar identified as the principal assailant. Singh had been in custody since 16 December 2025 and sought bail, contending that his involvement was minimal. The court examined the seriousness of the allegations and the length of pre‑trial detention. Considering the nature of the charges and the period of custody, the court allowed the bail application. Singh was released on a bail bond of Rs. 10,000 with two sureties, with the order limited to the bail matter and not affecting the merits of the trial.

Issues considered

  • Whether the petitioner is entitled to bail despite the serious nature of the offences alleged under the BNS Act and the Arms Act
  • Whether the period of pre‑trial custody justifies the grant of bail
