Patna High Court

Prince Kumar @ Deepak Kumar @ Dipak Kumar SinghversusThe State of Bihar

Decided
Disposal
BAIL GRANTED

Holding

The petitioner is entitled to bail upon furnishing the required bond and sureties.

Summary

The petitioner, Prince Kumar, had been in custody since March 4, 2024 and his bail application was earlier rejected on December 6, 2024. He argued that no specific overt act was alleged against him and that charges were only framed on May 8, 2025. The court noted the prolonged period of detention and the fact that charges had been framed, indicating a need to balance liberty with the prosecution's case. Considering these factors, the court directed that the petitioner be released on bail upon furnishing a bail bond of Rs. 10,000 with two sureties of equal amount. The order was pronounced by Justice Prabhat Kumar Singh of the Patna High Court.
