Patna High Court

Pappu SinghversusThe State of Bihar

Decided
Disposal
BAIL GRANTED

Holding

The court allowed the petitioners' application for regular bail.

Summary

Pappu Singh and Viru Singh were arrested in connection with a case under Section 30(a) of the Bihar Prohibition & Excise Act for allegedly possessing 10 litres of country‑made liquor. They had been in custody since 16 March 2026 and claimed they were falsely implicated, offering to donate Rs 10,000 collectively to a charitable organization. The State opposed the bail application. The Patna High Court, after hearing counsel, granted regular bail subject to a cash deposit of Rs 10,000 each to the Ramakrishna Mission, two sureties of equal amount, attendance at the police station every first Sunday of the month, and the requirement that the bailors be close blood relatives. The court clarified that its observations were prima facie and not to influence the trial. The bail bonds will be accepted only after verification of the charitable receipt.
