BAIL GRANTED

Holding

The court granted bail to the petitioner with specified conditions.

Summary

The petitioner, Raj Kishore Gond, was arrested on 21 February 2026 in connection with the seizure of 523.200 litres of foreign liquor and beer from a pickup van, alleged to be an offence under section 30(a) of the Bihar Prohibition & Excise (Amendment) Act, 2022. He applied for regular bail, asserting his innocence, lack of any criminal antecedent, and willingness to donate Rs.25,000 to a charitable organization without admitting guilt. The State opposed the bail application. The High Court, after considering the facts and submissions, allowed the bail application. The court ordered the petitioner to furnish a bail bond of Rs.10,000 with two sureties, verify his clean antecedent, deposit Rs.25,000 with the Ramakrishna Mission, and report to the police station on any two Sundays each month, failing which bail may be cancelled. The order was pronounced by Justice Sandeep Kumar.

  • Whether regular bail should be granted to the accused in an offence under section 30(a) of the Bihar Prohibition & Excise (Amendment) Act, 2022.
