Bail is granted to the petitioner subject to specified monetary and attendance conditions.
Summary
The petitioner, Pankaj Singh, was arrested in connection with the seizure of 2,593.08 liters of illicit liquor and alleged violations of the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act and the Arms Act. He had been in custody since 21 January 2026 and claimed innocence, offering to donate Rs. 25,000 to a charitable organization without admitting guilt. The State opposed his bail application. The Court, after considering the facts and submissions, granted bail on the condition that the petitioner furnish a bail bond of Rs. 10,000 with two sureties, deposit Rs. 25,000 with the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram and produce the receipt, and attend the police station on the first and third Sundays of each month. The order is limited to the bail application and does not prejudice the merits of the trial. Non‑compliance with the conditions will result in cancellation of bail.
Issues considered
- Whether bail should be granted to the accused in a case involving offences under the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act and the Arms Act.
