BAIL GRANTED

Holding

Bail is granted subject to a bond of Rs 10,000, two sureties, a Rs 25,000 charitable donation, and monthly police‑station attendance.

Summary

The Patna High Court considered the bail application of Ram Kumar, who was arrested for alleged possession of 51.480 litres of illicit liquor under Section 30(a) of the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act, 2018. The petitioner claimed innocence, had been in custody since 22 February 2026, and offered to donate Rs 25,000 to a charitable organization without admitting guilt. The State opposed the bail. After evaluating the facts and submissions, the Court ordered his release on bail upon furnishing a bond of Rs 10,000 with two sureties of the same amount, conditioned on the donation, production of the receipt, and attendance at the police station every Sunday. The order is limited to the bail application and does not prejudice the merits of the trial.

Issues considered
