DISMISSED

Holding

The court held that bail could not be granted in the present double murder case involving serious offences under the IPC and the Arms Act.

Summary

The petitioner, Ranjit Kumar, was arrested in connection with a double murder case arising from a rivalry over sand ghats, alleged under Sections 302 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 27 of the Arms Act. Although his name does not appear in the FIR, it was mentioned in a self‑inculpatory statement of a co‑accused. He has been in custody since 13 January 2026 and applied for regular bail. The court examined the seriousness of the offences, the nature of the crime, and the fact that the case involved multiple murders. Considering these factors, the court was not inclined to grant bail. Consequently, the bail application was dismissed, with the court noting that its observations were limited to the bail matter and did not prejudice the trial.
