Holding

The court held that bail cannot be granted where the accused is alleged to have forced a woman into prostitution.

Summary

The petitioner, Pappu Kumar, was arrested in connection with a case alleging that he and his sister abducted a woman and attempted to force her into prostitution, invoking IPC sections 365, 366, 34, 323, 376 and 504. He applied for bail, claiming innocence, a clean antecedent and that he had been in custody since 11‑11‑2025. The State opposed the bail, emphasizing the seriousness of the alleged offences, particularly the forced prostitution. The Court examined the charge sheet and the nature of the alleged crimes and concluded that the gravity of forcing a woman into prostitution warranted denial of bail. Consequently, the petition for bail was rejected.
