Patna High Court

Rajesh Kumar RamversusThe State of Bihar

Decided
Disposal
BAIL GRANTED

Holding

Considering the period of custody, the bail application is allowed.

Summary

Rajesh Kumar Ram was arrested for theft of a mobile phone, charged under sections 356 and 379 of the Indian Penal Code, and has three prior criminal convictions. He had been in custody since 23‑08‑2024 and his earlier bail application was rejected on 16‑04‑2025. On 12‑02‑2026, the Patna High Court reconsidered the bail plea, taking into account the length of his detention. The Court allowed regular bail, directing the petitioner to furnish a bail bond of Rs 10,000 with two sureties who are close relatives, and to comply with conditions including cooperation with the trial and reporting to the police station every Sunday. Any default would lead to cancellation of the bail. The order was pronounced by Justice Sandeep Kumar.
