Decided
Disposal
BAIL GRANTED

Holding

The court granted bail to the petitioner subject to a bond and sureties.

Summary

The petitioner, Gajendra Mandal, was arrested in connection with a case registered under Sections 341, 323, 307, 302 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code, alleging that his father assaulted the deceased. He has been in custody since 20 March 2024 and applied for bail. The State and the informant opposed the bail application, arguing the seriousness of the offences, which include murder. The High Court examined the facts and circumstances and, while noting that the merits of the case remain to be decided, granted bail on the condition of a Rs.10,000 bond and two sureties of equal amount. The order is limited to the bail application and does not prejudice any future trial proceedings.
