Patna High Court

Soni KumariversusThe State of Bihar

Decided
Disposal
BAIL GRANTED

Holding

Bail was granted to the petitioner subject to a bond of Rs.10,000 and two sureties.

Summary

The petitioner, Soni Kumari, was arrested in connection with a case registered under Sections 317(2), 317(4) and 3(5) of the BNS for alleged dealing in stolen ornaments. She had been in custody since 18 February 2026. Her counsel argued that she is innocent, that her husband may be the actual perpetrator, and that she is being falsely implicated. The court, noting her gender and the length of her detention, granted bail on the condition of a Rs.10,000 bond with two sureties of equal amount. The order expressly limited its effect to the bail application and did not prejudice the merits of the trial.
