BAIL GRANTED

Holding

Bail was granted to the petitioner with a bond of Rs.10,000 and conditions of regular police station attendance.

Summary

The petitioner, Abhishek Kumar Ranjan, was arrested in connection with Chakmehsi P.S. Case No. 133 of 2025 for alleged possession of a country-made pistol, live cartridges, and firing upon police, invoking sections of the BNS and the Arms Act. He had been in custody since 21 August 2025 and faced four additional cases. The petitioner’s counsel argued that he was falsely implicated, citing his innocence and the length of his detention. The court examined the seriousness of the charges and the period of custody and decided to grant bail. Bail was set at a Rs.10,000 bond with two sureties, subject to the condition that the petitioner report to Saraiya Police Station every Sunday of each month, with non‑compliance leading to cancellation.

  • Whether bail should be granted to the petitioner despite the serious nature of the offences under the BNS and Arms Act
