The court held that the time for surrender and furnishing bail bonds may be extended by four weeks.

Summary

The petitioners Salam Khan, Nezam Khan and Tegar Khan filed a modification application seeking an extension of the time granted to surrender themselves and furnish bail bonds as ordered on 08-01-2025 in Criminal Miscellaneous No. 89048 of 2024. The petition argued that additional time was required to comply with the surrender and bail bond conditions. The State of Bihar opposed the modification, contending that the original time limit should stand. Justice Rajesh Kumar Verma considered whether the court could lawfully extend the surrender period under the applicable bail provisions. Relying on the reasons set out in the petition, the court found merit in granting a four‑week extension from the date of the order. Consequently, the modification application was disposed of with the extension granted.
