Holding
Anticipatory bail was not granted as the nature of the injury and the petitioner’s criminal antecedent warranted denial.
Summary
Pappu Rai applied for anticipatory bail after being implicated in a FIR alleging assault on Pradeep Rai’s head, resulting in grievous injury. The FIR charges him under Sections 147, 447, 341, 323, 324, 307, 504 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code, and he has a prior criminal antecedent. The petitioner feared arrest and sought relief from the High Court. The Court examined the seriousness of the injuries and the petitioner’s past record. Considering the nature of the offence and the antecedent, the Court rejected the prayer for anticipatory bail. Consequently, the petition for bail was dismissed.
