Holding

The Court granted bail to the petitioner, subject to a bond of Rs.10,000 and two sureties of equal amount.

Summary

The petitioner, Chotu @ Amarjeet Kumar, was arrested in connection with a case registered under Sections 109/3(5) of the BNS and Sections 27, 25(1‑B)a, 26 and 35 of the Arms Act for allegedly firing upon a victim. He had been in custody since 20‑02‑2026 and claimed that he was falsely implicated and that the actual assailant was a co‑accused. The petitioner’s counsel argued that he was innocent and sought bail. The High Court, after hearing the parties, granted bail on the condition of a Rs.10,000 bond with two sureties of the same amount. The Court clarified that its order was limited to the bail application and did not prejudice the merits of the trial.
