Decided
Disposal
BAIL GRANTED

Holding

The court granted regular bail to the petitioner, subject to verification of his clean antecedent and the furnishing of bail bonds.

Summary

The petitioner, Subodh Mandal, was arrested in connection with a land‑dispute case (PS Mohanpur Case No. 07/2026) involving offences under several sections of the Bihar Negotiable Instruments Act and Section 27 of the Arms Act. He claimed innocence, asserted a clean criminal record, and had been in custody since 20 January 2026. The petitioner’s counsel sought regular bail, while the Additional Public Prosecutor opposed it. The court examined the facts, noting the petitioner’s lack of antecedents and his willingness to cooperate, and directed verification of his clean record before bail was granted. Consequently, the court allowed regular bail on the condition of furnishing a bail bond of Rs. 10,000 with two sureties, subject to verification of his antecedents.
