Holding

The court granted regular bail to the petitioner.

Summary

Ajay Singh was arrested in connection with an assault case (Basantpur PS Case No. 708 of 2024) and charged under sections 191(1), 126(2), 115(2), 308(3), 109(1), 303(2), 324(2) and 351(2) of the Indian Penal Code. The prosecution alleged that he assaulted Sandesh Sah, causing several injuries, including a grievous wound to the wrist. The petitioner contended that the FIR contained only vague, omnibus allegations, that he had no prior criminal record, and that he had been in judicial custody since 6 October 2025. The State opposed the grant of regular bail. After hearing both sides, the High Court held that the circumstances warranted the grant of regular bail, directing the petitioner to be released on furnishing a bail bond of Rs.10,000 with two sureties.
