The court held that the surrender period may be extended by eight weeks upon deposit of Rs.50,000.

Summary

The petitioner, Md. Firoz Alam, filed a petition seeking modification of an earlier order that required him to surrender and furnish a bail bond. He requested an extension of the surrender period. The High Court considered the reasons presented in the petition and decided to grant an additional eight weeks for surrender. The extension was conditioned upon the petitioner depositing Rs. 50,000 with the District Legal Services Authority and furnishing the receipt along with the bail bond. The deposited amount may be used by the civil court for furniture and beautification of its premises. The modification petition was allowed, thereby extending the surrender deadline.
