The court allowed the petitioner's application for regular bail.
Summary
Shyam Sundar Kumar was arrested in connection with an assault case (PS Case No. 350 of 2024) alleging grievous injury under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. He had been in custody since 21 August 2024 and filed an application for regular bail, claiming innocence. The State opposed the bail on the seriousness of the charges. The High Court, after considering the facts, the period of custody, and the nature of the allegations, allowed the bail application, directing the petitioner to furnish a bail bond of Rs. 10,000 with two sureties of the same amount. The court clarified that its observations were prima facie and would not affect the merits of the trial.
