The application for regular bail was dismissed, and bail was not granted.

Summary

The petitioner, Akash Paswan, applied for regular bail in a case registered under Sections 308(3), 308(4), 352, 351(2) & 3(5) of the B.N.S. and Sections 25(a) & 27 of the Arms Act, alleging extortion of shopkeepers in Ghosi Bazaar. The prosecution alleged that he was involved in demanding extortion (rangdari) and highlighted six other serious cases against him. The petitioner claimed innocence despite six prior criminal antecedents and sought bail. The State opposed bail, emphasizing the seriousness of the charges and the petitioner’s criminal history. The Court, considering the gravity of the offences and the antecedents, declined to grant bail and dismissed the application, noting that its observations were prima facie and not to prejudice the trial.
