The court quashed the criminal proceedings in Cases No.724 and No.723 of 2017 on account of settlement between the parties.

Summary

Manish Kumar filed a petition seeking to quash the order dated 31.03.2018 of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Begusarai, relating to Begusarai Town Police Station Case No.724 of 2017. The petitioner, along with the informant, submitted that the dispute with the opposite party had been settled to preserve peace and requested the dismissal of both the original case and a related counter case (Case No.723 of 2017). The High Court considered the settlement and the parties' desire to maintain tranquility. Relying on the principle that criminal proceedings may be withdrawn when the parties have amicably resolved their differences, the Court ordered the quashing of both cases and any consequential proceedings. The order was communicated to the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Begusarai for compliance.
