Niranjan Kumar Bind @ Niranjan KumarversusThe State of Bihar

Decided
Disposal
BAIL REJECTED

Holding

The bail application is rejected; the petitioner is not entitled to bail.

Summary

The petitioner, Niranjan Kumar Bind, is in custody for a dowry‑death case (Sections 304B and 34 IPC) arising from the murder of his wife Runti Devi. The prosecution alleges that the victim’s in‑laws demanded dowry and that the petitioner, his wife and brother‑in‑law strangulated the victim. The petitioner had earlier applied for bail, which was rejected on 12‑July‑2023, and has now filed a fresh bail petition. The High Court noted a delay in the trial court due to the presiding officer’s bereavement leave and directed the trial court to conclude the matter promptly. However, the Court was not persuaded to grant bail and consequently rejected the bail application.

                                    7. Accordingly, the bail application stands rejected.
