BAIL GRANTED

Holding

The Court allowed the petitioner's application for regular bail.

Summary

The petitioner, Sonu Kumar Singh, was arrested in connection with a case registered under Sections 420, 467, 468, 419, 471 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code, alleging that he conspired with others to impersonate a woman and illegally execute a sale deed. He applied for regular bail, claiming innocence and that the matter is essentially a civil dispute, and highlighted that he has been in custody since 6 February 2025. The State opposed the bail, asserting that the petitioner was part of a cheating scheme against the informant. The Court considered the seriousness of the offences, the period of detention, and the petitioner’s claim of innocence, and decided to grant bail. Accordingly, the petitioner was released on a bail bond of Rs.10,000 with two sureties, subject to conditions of regular appearance and cooperation in the trial.
