Decided
Disposal
BAIL GRANTED

Holding

The court granted bail to the petitioner subject to conditions.

Summary

The petitioner, Raja Quraishi, was in custody since 6 November 2024 for alleged offences under sections 25(1‑b), 25(1‑a), 26 and 35 of the Arms Act. He applied for regular bail, claiming innocence and that the trial was unduly delayed. The State opposed the bail. The court, noting the length of custody and the delay in trial, allowed the bail application. The petitioner was released on a bail bond of Rs.10,000 with two sureties of the same amount, both of whom must be close relatives, and was directed to appear at the police station on the first Sunday of each month. Non‑appearance would lead to cancellation of bail.
