The court held that, based on the petitioners' statements, the anticipatory bail order could be modified by extending the surrender period by four weeks.

Summary

The petitioners Ranjan Chaudhari, Vinod Chaudhari and Nitish Kumar sought modification of an anticipatory bail order dated 26‑11‑2025, which required them to furnish a bail bond within four weeks and stipulated a surrender period. Relying on statements made in paragraphs 5‑7 of their petition, the court considered their request for a longer surrender period. The High Court, after hearing counsel for both parties, allowed the modification and extended the surrender period by an additional four weeks. It also directed the lower court to submit a show‑cause notice regarding the non‑granting of a timely petition and non‑compliance with the earlier order. The order further instructed the office to take necessary steps to implement the modification.
