Patna High Court

Sanjay Yadav @ Sanjay Kumar YadavversusThe State of Bihar

Holding

The court held that the time for surrender to furnish bail bonds may be extended, and therefore extended it by four weeks.

Summary

The petitioner, Sanjay Yadav, had been granted anticipatory bail by the Patna High Court with a direction to surrender within four weeks to furnish bail bonds. He filed an application seeking modification of that order, claiming he was a B.A. Part‑III student and was unaware of the requirement to furnish the bonds in time. The petitioner’s counsel argued that the inability to surrender was due to his academic commitments. The court considered the petition and found merit in the petitioner’s explanation. Consequently, the court extended the period for surrender by an additional four weeks and modified the earlier order accordingly.
