The anticipatory bail petition is dismissed as withdrawn.
Summary
Vishal Kumar filed an anticipatory bail petition fearing arrest in a criminal case (Batia P.S. Case No. 12 of 2025) under several sections of the BNS. After hearing, the petitioner’s counsel requested that the petition be withdrawn. The court considered the request and, finding the petition no longer pursued, dismissed it as withdrawn. No substantive discussion on the merits of the bail application was made. The order effectively closed the proceedings on the anticipatory bail petition.
Issues considered
- Can an anticipatory bail petition be withdrawn by the petitioner?
