The anticipatory bail order is modified, extending the surrender period by four weeks.

Summary

Petitioner Prabhat Jha filed an application seeking modification of an earlier anticipatory bail order dated 18-11-2025 because he was unable to surrender and furnish the bail bond within the stipulated period owing to illness. The High Court examined whether the circumstances justified extending the time for surrender. The Court noted the petitioner’s genuine medical condition and the need to balance the rights of the accused with the interests of justice. Accordingly, the Court allowed the application and extended the deadline for surrender and furnishing the bail bond by four weeks from the date of the order. The order thus modifies the earlier anticipatory bail terms without altering the bail itself.
