The Court modified the order dated 07-04-2022, granting an additional eight weeks for surrender subject to a deposit of Rs. 25,000 with the District Legal Services Authority.

Summary

The petitioner, Ritik Raushan, filed an application seeking modification of an earlier order dated 07-04-2022 which had extended the period for his surrender in a criminal miscellaneous case. The petition argued for a further extension to surrender and to furnish a bail bond. The Court examined the reasons presented and considered the adequacy of the time already granted. It held that a further extension of eight weeks was appropriate, subject to a condition of depositing Rs. 25,000 with the District Legal Services Authority and furnishing the receipt along with the bail bond. Consequently, the earlier order was modified to incorporate these terms and the petition for modification was allowed.

Issues considered

  • Whether the period granted for surrender in the earlier order can be further extended
